This day featured not only the usual emotions and makeup of a wedding day but also some fairly crazy weather. Upon arriving at the Intercontinental Hotel on Bloor Street for Yulia’s getting-ready photos, I was already sweating. The humidity was unbearable and the heat was stifling. Fast forward a few hours to the middle of the portrait session at the University of Toronto campus, and the rains came. Within an hour or so the temperature dropped more than 10 degrees and the humidity plumetted to more agreeable levels. This is still in the afternoon. Nuts!
This day was special for Yulia, not only because it was her big day, but also because her parents had flown in from Russia to be present. It must be a proud moment for any parents to see their daughter grow up into an adult and begin another chapter in her life. And bittersweet too, I can only imagine.
The couple was married at the Church of the Redeemer which is on Bloor Street. Afterwards we took a stroll downtown towards our portrait location. Many people congratulated Yulia and Robert as they walked past us. We got most of our portraits done before we headed to the Reception which was held in the backyard at Robert’s place. It was a very cosy and pleasant atmosphere, especially as it was mostly outdoors and the weather had vastly improved. Here are some photos from that day.
