On February 26th, I flew from cold Toronto to sunny Nicaragua for a week. About 2 years ago, six of my friends bought some land on a deserted beach called Isla Los Brasiles, a 5 min boat ride from Poneloya. They decided to build a travel lodge/hostel http://www.surfingturtlelodge.com/ and below are a few pictures I took of some of the activities and entertainment that had happened. The weather was 35 °C every day with virtually no chance of rain. Being right on the Pacific Ocean meant that there was no humidity either, just a nice cool ocean breeze.
For just USD $10/night you can sleep in a dorm bed or for a little more you can have a private room or your own cabin. I was able to experience all of these accomodations and you simply can’t go wrong when the beach is a few steps away. The weekend was packed full of excitement as there was a Pig Roast and the place was jammed with people from all over the world. It was a nice party atmosphere with good vibes and good music. The weekdays were more relaxed and chill as there were less travelers and more time was spent lounging, swimming, lying in hammocks and gazing at stars at nighttime. I went jogging one late morning and for about 20-25min on the beach I did not encounter a single person, so it truly is a deserted and remote location.
I hope you enjoy the pictures of the Surfing Turtle Lodge.
