I’m not much of a writer.  Though I do like to tell stories.  I try to do it with photographs.  Here is the story of Ben and Suzanne’s wedding day.  They got married just west of Toronto on a beautiful, sunny day.  I actually met this couple back in 2014 at Todd & Stephanie’s wedding.  We sat at the same table and I took some photos of them on the dance floor.  And 3 years later I ended up taking their wedding photos.  You never know how things will end up.  There  are actually 2 other couples from that table whose weddings I will shoot later this year.  That was definitely my lucky clover table 🙂

I shot the wedding with my Canon 5D Mark II and Canon 5D cameras and I also shot a roll of 220 film on my Pentax 645n medium format camera.  It was an expired roll of Kodak Portra 400NC, scanned by the fine folks at Canadian Film Lab.

This is a long blog post so make yourself a nice cup of coffee or pour yourself a good scotch and enjoy.

I had never been to Aga Khan Park in Toronto, so when Dalia suggested it, after a quick google image search, I was all for it. Along with Peter we did their engagement pictures there and then drove to Edwards Gardens for some more photos. Both are fantastic places for photography. We had a great time and here are some of my favourite images.

I used my Canon 5D Mark II camera with 24mm and 50mm lenses and also my Contax G2 35mm camera shooting a roll of Fuji400H film. Scanned/Processed by the fine folks at Canadian Film Lab.

I took pictures of Christian’s Baptism in Toronto at the beautiful St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.  The little fella cried for most of the Ceremony, as its probably pretty scary for a baby.  Here are some of my favourite images from the Event.

I had photographed the Passero family previously for a 1st Communion, so it was nice to have 90-120min all outdoors this time. The 3 boys brought their dogs as well and Ashbridges Bay in Toronto is a pretty nice location.  Here are some of my favourite photos from the day.

I shot mostly digital but did shoot a roll of Portra 400 (pushed +1) with my Contax G2 35mm film camera.  Scanned/processed by Canadian Film Lab.Toronto Family PhotographerFamily Photographer in TorontoBeach Family Photographer in TorontoToronto Family Photography at Ashbridges BayDocumentary Family Photographer in TorontoFamily pics in TorontoAshbridges Bay Family Photographer in TorontoBeach Toronto Family photosFamily Photographer in TorontoToronto Documentary Family PhotographerToronto Film photographer Contax G2 Portra 400 Canadian Film LabCanadian Film Lab Toronto Family PhotographerToronto Family Portrait photographerToronto Family Portrait photographersToronto Family Portrait photographyFamily Photos in Toronto at Lake OntarioToronto Ashbridges Bay Family photographyFamily pics in Toronto

I spent a week taking pictures and drinking cold beers at Surfing Turtle Lodge in Nicaragua.  It is located about a 2hr drive from Managua, the capital of Nicaragua.  And then you have to take a ~5min. boat ride to the Lodge as it is located on an island.  I visited this beach hostel 6 years ago and its exciting seeing it grow and expand to become bigger as more and more visitors flock to it.  It really is a great place to chill and meet fellow travellers.  Every day hit 34°C and most people enjoyed a nice lunch with beer in the shade followed by some hammock time.  They have wifi so I often saw people going online and reconnecting to the world wide web.  But not for long.  There are many activities that the lodge offers.  Daily morning Yoga. Surfing lessons at anytime during the day.  They have horseback riding and a slack line to help remind you of how out of shape and balance some people (me) might be.  Daily volleyball tournaments at 4:30pm were a lot of fun and the winning team gets a round of free drinks. The ocean was always a great idea for a quick dip or a little swim.  The currents are pretty strong so one does have to be careful.

And lets get to the turtles.  The 5th picture below shows the Turtle hatchery.  While I was there the Lodge released turtles 3 or 4 times.  Once at night and the other times during the day.  The guests would walk to the ocean and you could see how exciting and unique this experience was.  The staff would release the turtles on the wet sand and allow the turtles to make their journey towards the ocean.  Guests could put on gloves and help out.

During the evening more drinking would occur and there was also evening games.  After that people would often play another drinking game called Flip Cup.  There was always a bonfire at the beach that people could enjoy while gazing up at the infinite stars.  I also visited the Cathedral in León and took a couple of photos from the rooftop.

The majority of these photos were taken with my film cameras.  I used my Contax G2 35mm camera and my Pentax 645n medium format camera with Portra 160, 400 and 800 film.  I also shot a roll of Kodak Ektar 100 film.  I used my Canon 5D Mark II camera for the evening games, etc.  Canadian Film Lab did a wonderful job scanning/processing the film.

If anyone would like a print – drop me a line and I can give you the size/pricing info.
