As you will see from these pictures, Laura and Alex love to smile and laugh. And that is not an understatement. It was a joy to photograph their wedding at the elegant National Ballet School of Canada in downtown Toronto. Some fantastic speeches and magic card tricks followed at the Reception, before the DJ got it going with the tunes and the dance floor action began. A great day! Here are some of my favourite pictures.
This was my 2nd time photographing a Baptism at St. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Toronto. The Church is beautiful inside and all of that helps to make the event that much more special. There is not an abundance of light inside as all the windows are covered with frosted glass, but it is adequate. On this day Kassiani and Victoria had their Baptism and it was a privilege to be a part of such a big moment in their lives. In real life it is close to impossible to catch all the looks and different emotions we see other people go through. One reason I love photography is that it can capture those split second emotions and forever keep them alive. Sometimes it passes so quickly that we easily miss it, only to later see in the photograph and recall the emotion of that moment. Especially with children. Their attention spans are limited so it is extra special to take that photograph that shows that emotional connectivity people have with each other. Here are some photos from that day.

Killer documentary work, Paul. Right place and the right time…well done!
Here is Jen & Philip’s wedding from Old Mill in Toronto. Once again it was hot and humid in the city but at least we escaped from any rain. I really enjoyed photographing the engagement session for this couple in Unionville and it was just as fun for the wedding. Here are some photos from that day.

Lovely work as usual Paul 🙂
This photo session had a little extra meaning to me. The reason is that David is my brother. He also hates to have his photo taken. His fiancé, Katie, did a great job of getting him on board. In the end this was one of my favourite photography sessions to ever shoot. You can’t go wrong with beautiful scenery, fantastic weather and a couple on board with your vision and wanting to create great images together. My parents used to take the whole family to these same Bluffs when we were children. Its in Toronto, just a little east and at the Southern point. It was nice to revisit a place that had a few memories. As usual, most of this session was shot with my Canon 5D2 digital camera and I also shot a roll and a half of Kodak Portra 400 film on my Pentax 645n medium format camera. I love my digital camera(s) as I’ve used them on so many sessions, but the film camera just resonates with me as the results it creates are tremendous. It definitely has a solid place in my camera bag. Katie and Dave are getting married in Mexico in October, so i’m very much looking forward to that. In the meantime, here are some photos from this session.

Paulina and Scott were married at the elegant Parkwood Estate venue in Oshawa on a rainy day in July. The rain started in the early afternoon, during the getting ready photos. It did not stop for the rest of the day. It literally rained the entire time. I actually had to throw out my black dress shoes a couple of days after as they were ‘kaput’. I was happy that it was overcast though 🙂 Paulina and Scott accepted the rain and made the best of it. Every photo you see below outdoors was taken with either moderate rainfall or it was pouring and the couple had no choice but to use umbrellas. Paulina’s dress was literally soaked. The Reception was very lively and full of laughs, especially for the alleged letter that Rob Ford wrote. Around 7pm I told them, “Listen, its overcast and gonna get dark soon, what you say we go out for 15 more minutes of photos!?”. They promptly grabbed their umbrellas and we went out in the downpour and created more images. Gotta love em’! Here are some images from that day.
